The Upper Sandusky Community Library will close early at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, and will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 23. The library will return to regular hours on Friday, Nov. 24.

Common Readers will be reading “The Woman They Could Not Silence: One Woman, Her Incredible Fight for Freedom, and the Men Who Tried to Make Her Disappear” by Kate Moore in November. 

The discussion will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in the library’s large meeting room. Copies of the book are available upon request at the library’s front desk. It is also available as an ebook and audiobook on Libby and as an ebook on hoopla.

Inglorious Bookworms: "Dark Roads"

Inglorious Bookworms will be reading “Dark Roads” by Chevy Stevens in November. 

The discussion will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15 in the library’s large meeting room. Copies of the book are available upon request at the library’s front desk. The book is also available as an ebook and audiobook on Libby and as an audiobook on hoopla.

Gingerbread House Workshop

Start the holiday season out in the sweetest way possible with Miss Jill’s Gingerbread House Workshop! Participants will receive a cardboard house frame and frosting to help construct their gingerbread house. Make sure to bring graham crackers and candy to decorate your house. Space is limited and registration is required. All ages are welcome, though children must be accompanied by an adult. The workshops will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27 and Tuesday, Nov. 28. Registration begins on Monday, Nov. 13.

The Road Less Traveled

Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature at The Road Less Traveled, a nature photography exhibit. Russell Lyon will take you on a photographic journey through his love of and experiences in nature photography across the country. The program will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16 in Upper Sandusky Community Library’s large meeting room.

STEAMpunks: Dinosaur Trivia

Join Youth Services Specialist Lisa Andres at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13 in the library’s large meeting room for a special STEAMpunks trivia game. Lisa is celebrating Dinovember with the kids by playing a dinosaur-themed game of Jeopardy and munching on snacks. STEAMpunks is intended for students in grades 6-12.

Come to Lunch Bunch on Monday, Nov. 27 at 12:00 p.m. in the library’s large meeting room and bring a dish that features a recipe from the library’s cookbook collection. Then get ready to discuss cooking, baking, recipes, and more. Make sure to bring a beverage to quench your thirst.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board of Trustees will convene for a meeting at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9. The library’s Board of Trustees meets on the second Thursday of each month to discuss library business. The meetings are open to the public.

Elf Interactive Movie Night

If “smiling’s your favorite” and you have an “affinity for elf culture,” then be sure to mark Wednesday, Nov. 29 as an evening you’ll never forget! 

Upper Sandusky Community Library’s next interactive movie night will feature an elf-themed buffet complete with all the elf food groups (candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup) and much more. Then it’s time to become part of the movie as we call out quotes, sing, and have a snowball fight! 

Secret Santa Shop

The Upper Sandusky Community Library’s Friends of the Library will once again be hosting the Secret Santa Shop from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2. Children, ages 12 and under, are encouraged to fill out a shopper’s sheet with information regarding who they are shopping for and their spending limit. These sheets can be filled out ahead of time and are available in the children's department. Items are priced between $1 and $5. When the shoppers arrive, an elf will help them shop for the perfect gifts for friends and family.
