Got plans after school? Then join Miss Lisa and Miss Jill each week for That Thursday Thing. This weekly afternoon program is for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. It takes place from 3:00-4:00 p.m. every Thursday, unless school is not in session. Miss Lisa and Miss Jill plan interactive games, crafts, and activities for kids while making learning fun.

We’re crafting with our gnomies in September! Join Rachel Keirns-Moore for Craft Party on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 6:00 p.m. and create an Autumn Teacup Gnome. There’s no cost to attend. Supplies and snacks are provided so gather your friends and sign up for a maker's night out! Registration is required and begins Tuesday, Sept. 5. Sign up at the library or call 419-294-1345 to reserve a spot. Space is limited. Adults only, please.

Ready for a new foodie program? The Upper Sandusky Community Library’s Patti Davidson and her husband Tony have you covered! Bring the world to your kitchen when you attend Taste of the World at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18. In this bi-monthly program, Patti and Tony will entertain and introduce you to flavors from around the world using that month's free Spice It Up pack. In September, they’re learning about Caribbean cuisine as Patti and Tony make Jerk Chicken Tacos. Space is limited and registration is required.

Join Youth Services Specialist Lisa Andres at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11 in the library’s large meeting room. She’ll take you on a scavenger hunt through the library’s Heritage Room and teach you about the tools available to researchers while looking up intriguing history of our town. STEAMpunks is intended for students in grades 6-12.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board of Trustees will convene for a meeting at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14. The library’s Board of Trustees meets at noon on the second Thursday of each month to discuss library business. The meetings are open to the public.

Common Readers: "The Night Tiger"

Common Readers will be reading “The Night Tiger” by Yangsze Choo in September. “The Night Tiger” is a “sweeping historical novel about a dancehall girl and an orphan boy whose fates entangle over an old Chinese superstition about men who turn into tigers.” The discussion will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19 in the library’s large meeting room. Copies of the book are available upon request at the library’s front desk. It is also available as an ebook and audiobook on Libby and as an audiobook on hoopla.
