The book for June is Peanut by Linas Alsenas. “When an old lady finds a small elephant in the park, what is she to do? Take him home and treat him like a pet dog, of course! Peanut's not like other dogs, though . . . and another walk in the park reveals that he's missing from the circus. When Peanut returns home, the old lady is sad again, until she comes across a camel . . . who she decides is a cat!”

If you like to paint or enjoy passing along a little positivity, join Rachel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1 for an evening of rock painting at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. Rachel will walk you through several painting methods then will turn you loose to design rocks of your own that are sure to make someone's day a little brighter! This program is intended for adults and teens. And if you happen to find a Kindness Rocks rock out in the wild this summer, return it to the library for an entry into our prize drawings.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board of Trustees will convene for a meeting at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8. The library’s Board of Trustees meets at noon on the second Thursday of each month to discuss library business. The meetings are open to the public.

Hear from local authors about their books and what goes into writing! The first of our Local Author Night events will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7 in Upper Sandusky Community Library’s large meeting room. The event will feature poet Gregg Friedberg, suspense writer Elyse Lortz, and memoirist Emily Alspach.

Get ready to learn about farm animals with the Upper Sandusky FFA. Visit the Upper Sandusky Community Library at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14 for Bring the Farm to the Library. See what animals the FFA will bring for you to pet and learn about – and meet the people who take care them!

Get as crazy about orchids as Holly Gayheart. Holly, who is from Butler, Ohio, will share her love of orchids in this introductory orchid program at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15 in Upper Sandusky Community Library’s large meeting room.

Miss Lisa is breaking out the paints and brushes this summer for a special painting program just for kids and teens in grades 6-12. Painting with Miss Lisa is set for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28. Using step-by-step directions, she will show kids how to create a hot air balloon landscape on a canvas that attendees can take home. Registration is required and begins Thursday, June 1.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library will be closed Monday, June 19 for Juneteenth. The library will return to regular hours on Tuesday, June 20.
