Owen Duress, son of Joel and Hannah, has completed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the Upper Sandusky Community Library.
Inglorious Bookworms will be reading “The Lies of the Ajungo” by Moses Ose Utomi in September.
“In the City of Lies, they cut out your tongue when you turn thirteen, to appease the terrifying Ajungo Empire and make sure it continues sending water. Tutu will be thirteen in three days, but his parched mother won’t last that long. So Tutu goes to his oba and makes a deal: she provides water for his mother, and in exchange he will travel out into the desert and bring back water for the city. Thus begins Tutu’s quest for the salvation of his mother, his city, and himself.”

Adventure Begins at Your Library runs from June 1 through July 31. Participants can sign up now at the library. Pick up a summer reading packet for your age group at the front desk and get to reading! When you complete your packet, bring it back to the library for an entry into one of the prize drawings.
Attention middle school students! There’s a new program at the library just for you.
You’re invited to hang out with your friends every Monday at 3:00 p.m. for Middle School StoryTime. Miss Lisa has created a reader’s theater and you’ll read the book together while interacting with all the parts.
Middle School Storytime will not occur on Sept. 2 or 9.

The Upper Sandusky Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale will take place August 15-17.
The book sale kicks off with a special Friends of the Library members-only sale from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
The book sale will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17. The sale will take place in the large meeting room downstairs.
Get ready for plants, seeds, and bulbs galore with the return of the Upper Sandusky Community Library’s annual Fall Plant & Seed Swap.
Donations for the Plant & Seed Swap can be brought to the library Tuesday, Sept. 24 and Wednesday, Sept. 25 during library hours. Donations being accepted include house or outdoor plants, starts, bulbs, and seeds. The plants should be healthy, easily transportable, and should include any instructions for care or planting.
