Caire Kovalik is days away from being unemployed―made obsolete―when her beacon repair crew picks up a strange distress signal. With nothing to lose and no desire to return to Earth, Claire and her team decide to investigate. What they find is shocking: the Aurora, a famous luxury spaceliner that vanished on its maiden tour of the solar system more than twenty years ago. A salvage claim like this could set Claire and her crew up for life. But a quick search of the ship reveals something isn’t right. Whispers in the dark. Flickers of movement. Messages scrawled in blood. Claire must fight to hold on to her sanity and find out what really happened on the Aurora before she and her crew meet the same ghastly fate. People say Beartown is finished. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink and in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semi-finals, and all the hopes and dreams of this place now rest on the shoulders of a handful of teenage boys. Being responsible for the hopes of an entire town is a heavy burden, and the semi-final match is the catalyst for a violent act that will leave a young girl traumatized and a town in turmoil. Accusations are made and, like ripples on a pond, they travel through all of Beartown, leaving no resident unaffected. In Memorial... Myla Karhoff, daughter of Morgan and Mitchell, has completed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at USCL! Myla, who is three years old, started the program on June 10, 2023, and completed it on August 15, 2024. Her favorite color is pink, and she loves eating chicken quesadillas at Taco Bell. She really liked reading “Be Quiet” by Ryan Higgins and she enjoys riding horses and making pizzas. Myla will start preschool in the fall. Any child from birth until he or she enters kindergarten can participate. Each child will receive a log to record the books with incentives being given along the way.
