Join the discussion of this novel based on the true narrative of Mary Rowlandson of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1676. Captured by Indians, her home destroyed, her children lost to her, Mary is sold into the service of a powerful woman tribal leader and made a pawn in the ongoing bloody struggle between English settlers and native people. There’s something for everyone so creep on in or stalk our Facebook and website for ways to make your month frighteningly fun! What’s better than two legs? Why, eight of course! Let this arachnid invasion bring a little Halloween spirit to your home with Crafternoon’s Spooky Spider Lantern. Crafternoon with Miss Rachel offers month- ly seasonal crafts for adults at no cost. Craft packs are offered for one week each month or until supplies run out and can be picked up at the front desk. “It’s a great way to take some time each month to be creative and to celebrate what each season has to offer,” says Rachel. Each pack contains directions and every- thing you need to complete the craft except scissors. You can also follow along with Rachel on the Crafternoon tutorial on USCL’s Facebook page. “I have great fun making the tutorials… even though my cats try to make guest appearances, I get tongue tied, and I do weird things when I’m nervous!” Craft packs and tutorials are both availa- ble the third Thursday of each month. If you’re looking for an eerie adventure, check out the Zombie Escape Room! While zombies threaten outside, it’s all up to you to find the concoction that will reverse the undead attack! Use your brains -before they get eaten- to solve puzzles that will lead you to saving all mankind…or at least everyone in the building! This interactive event is ideal for ages 13 and up and for groups up to six. Make your reservation for this 45 minute thriller through the USCL website. The cost is $5 per person or 5 non-perishable food or personal care items. All proceeds will go to Open Door Resource Center and USCL.
