Adventures begins at your library this summer and there’s nothing more adventurous than our Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle interactive movie night for adults. Start the evening with a buffet of appetizers and then unpack your movie kit to reveal your character for an evening full of adventure and laughs. You’ll become part of the action as you follow along with our interactive movie script that will have you shouting out movie quotes, practicing your smolder, dance fighting and more! It all happens on Thursday, June 20th. On Thursday, June 27th at 6:00 p.m. you are invited to join Vikkie Mustad from Laughing Gourd Studio as she demonstrates how to make and paint a gourd birdhouse. Science Adventure Who knows what scientific wonders you will encounter when Mr. Molecule’s Outer Space Adventures Science Show visits the library at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5th. It’s sure to be out-of-this-world fun for the whole family. No registration is required for this program. Adventures with Birds and Wildlife Are you planning an outdoor adventure this summer? Learn about local wildlife when Angie Ford from Wind Beneath My Wings Birds of Prey visits USCL at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12th in our large meeting room. Learn all about birds, the sounds they make, and how you can identify the feathered friends that live right in your backyard! No registration is required for this program and everyone is welcome to attend. at Your Library! Adventures with Pets: Show and Tell Monster Mash Up Do you have an interesting pet or a animal that you’d love to introduce to others? USCL is having a Pet Show and Tell in our backyard from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26th. If you would like to sign up to bring your pet, please be aware: Pets must be held, leashed or in a crate or carrier Pets must get along with other animals and people One pet per child An adult must stay with the child and pet Arrive at the library at 9:45 a.m. to set up. Ezra Conklin, son of Gabby and Jake, has completed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at USCL. Ezra, who is five-and-a-half years old and attends Steps Christian Preschool, completed the program on May 7, 2024. His favorite color is red and he loves to eat Nutella sandwiches, chicken nuggets, and peanut butter crackers. He enjoys playing Mario games on Nintendo and reading Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems. Any child from birth until they enter kindergarten can participate in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Each child will receive a log to record the books with incentives being given along the way. As you read to your children, they will form a link between books and what they love most – your voice and your closeness. USCL is excited to announce that we will be adding another Storywalk for our community to enjoy. Through a generous grant from the Community Foundation, you and your family will now be able to read a book page by page as you stroll along the path at our new Storywalk at Stepping Stones Park! Everyone is invited to join Miss Jill for a special ribbon cutting and cele- bration on Monday June, 3rd at 2:00 at Stepping Stones Park. So what books can you discover this month at our Storywalk locations? At our Storywalk at Stepping Stones, you’ll be reading the story of Bear, Moose and Beaver, who are the best of friends. They decide to go canoeing together one sunny day, but just can’t seem to get along. Ready for to read and solve a mystery? Visit our Uptown Coded Storywalk and be sure to write down the code letter located at each stop. When you finish the story, another fun tale about Moose, Bear, and Beaver, you should have spelled out a special message that you can bring back to the library to receive a prize!
