June 2020 Newsletter

New Adjusted Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00-6:00 Saturday 9:00-1:00 301 N. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351 419-294-1345 June 2020 Check out Kathleen’s suggestions for online resources, learning, and entertainment! We are surrounded. Surrounded by family and friends, neighbors and coworkers, responsibilities and opportunities. But if we look closer, we may realize that what we are really surrounded by are stories; beautiful, tragic, hilarious, triumphant stories. When you come into the library, there are books everywhere! But there are more stories than books. There’s the one about the man who was rejected so many times that he kept a journal called “A Record of Failure.” You may know him as the author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. How about the man who worked for Webster’s Dictionary and had to research and explain the words begin- ning with the letter “w”. I think that we are lucky that J.R.R. Tolkien didn’t call his trilogy The Word of the Wings. Or, do you know the one about the bus driving fiscal officer who moonlights as a glass artist or the intrepid, world traveling pro- gram director who explores glaciers with her daughter? You would probably recognize those stories by their name tags or when they’ve helped you at the front desk. Maybe your life story is a thrilling best seller, a classic detective story or a romantic paperback meant to be read by the pool. Even if your pag- es are dog eared or you feel like people have only ever bothered to read the back cover of your life, we all have a story to tell. We want to be part of yours. We have labored to bring our community to- gether through the love of read- ing. Although you are sure to no- tice some changes due to our efforts to ensure the safest envi- ronment possible, the Summer Reading Program will return June 1st. As always, there is something for everyone and we didn’t forget the prizes. (And you were worried!) Each activity has been designed to highlight the things I think we have all come to treasure just a little bit more recently…the need for each other. The need to learn and to share what we’ve learned. To give of ourselves and to receive knowledge of others. And most importantly, no matter where w are in our story, we must treas- ure th hope of turni g the pages of our lives with an expectation of a happy ending.
