If you’re looking for an exciting way to begin the New Year with your child, Miss Jill has you covered!. Start your day at the library with a Storywalk. Follow the story page by page as it shares a funny look at the one day of the year that can compete with Christ- mas for children's affection: YES DAY! By Amy Krouse Rosenthal. No matter how silly the request, there is one day a year when kids always receive a positive response: Can I have pizza for breakfast? YES! Can I stay up really late? YES! It’s sure to become one of your child’s favorites. Then, on January 21st, make room in the kitchen and join Miss Jill for “Kids Can Cook” on USCL’s Facebook as she shows how to make corn casserole. Yum! Spend time with your child and warm your heart and your belly this new year! Well, we made it through 2020! Here’s hoping that 2021 will be easier in many ways – that the kids will be able to attend school in person, that our businesses – and libraries! – will be able to stay open, and that we, our families and our friends will keep well. We want you to know that we at the Upper Sandusky Community Library are committed to giving you our best, no matter what the circumstances, even when that means we have to figure out new ways to do that. One benefit of the past year’s challenges is that we found ways to reach out to the community with Facebook and Zoom story times, cooking and craft videos and other programs. We started post- ing Story Walk© books downtown for families to enjoy while out and about. We have take-and- make crafts for you to enjoy working on at home, with entertaining how-to videos on Facebook to follow along if you wish. And we expect to continue many of these even when things return to a more normal mode, so busy families can connect with us when you can’t make it in. In the meantime, yes, we are all wearing masks to keep you and us healthy when you do come to visit, but I hope you can see the smiles in our eyes. Happy New Year! Kathleen From the Director...
