Happy anniversary, Imagination Library!

The Ohio Governor's Imagination Library is celebrating it's one-year anniversary here in Wyandot County, and USCL Director Kathleen Whitt penned the following letter to recognize that milestone.

I am really excited that kids in Wyandot County have the opportunity to receive a free book in the mail every month. I know when I was a kid a new book was always a treat. And who doesn't love getting something fun in the mail?

The Imagination Library sends age-appropriate books to the children and tries to make sure that the kids in one family will receive different books, not multiple copies of the same title. This program is open to all residents of Wyandot County under the age of 5.

I hope everyone who has a baby or young child will sign them up and pass it on to their friends. Also, if you have family members that live in a different county in Ohio, you can see if the program is available there. I think almost all Ohio counties are now participating thanks to the support of First Lady Fran DeWine and the legislature of the State of Ohio, which pays half of the cost for participating counties. Local support comes from generous sponsors within our community, including our very own Friends of the Library.

We currently have 559 children receiving books and 60 that have graduated from the program upon reaching age 5.
