Want to learn more about the great artists of the world? Then join Miss Lisa for a special course dedicated to individual artists.

The first eight-week course will feature the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso. Students in sixth grade and up can pick up the Art History Lessons with Miss Lisa packet beginning Sept. 8 by asking for one at the Upper Sandusky Community Library front desk. The packets include reading materials, links to videos, an art workbook, and an art supply kit. The art supply kit must be returned to the library at the end of the course. Books and documentaries about Picasso also are available at the library.

The course is designed for students to work at their own pace while watching Miss Lisa’s video tutorials. In those videos, Miss Lisa will lead students through a variety of activities geared toward learning about Picasso’s life and work, and students will learn how to interpret the artist’s style in their own unique way.

The introduction to Art History Lessons with Miss Lisa will air on the Upper Sandusky Community Library Facebook page and YouTube channel at 4:00 p.m. on Sept. 8. Lessons will air on those platforms at 6:00 p.m. every Friday beginning Sept. 11. The last lesson will premiere on Oct. 30.

The schedule the videos will initially air is as follows:

  • Lesson 1: Sept. 11
  • Lesson 2: Sept. 18
  • Lesson 3: Sept. 25
  • Lesson 4: Oct. 2
  • Lesson 5: Oct. 9
  • Lesson 6: Oct. 16
  • Lesson 7: Oct. 23
  • Lesson 8: Oct. 30

All lessons will be available to view at the student’s leisure under the Art History Lessons with Miss Lisa playlist on the library’s Facebook page or YouTube channel.

Students participating in the course can post their work on Instagram using #USCLpicasso or they can bring their Picasso artwork into the library to be displayed.
